Inherent Fallacies

I am currently coming up with a list of ideas that we take for granted in everyday society, ideas which are inherently untrue.

This is coming up in the world and in this country, the more that a certain Mr. Drumph has media attention.  He makes outlandish and untrue statements which are dismissed as "sarcasm" but he accuses his opponent of lies.

Quite often, we live in a world which is upside down.  Benefits are given to those who least need it, and those who need it most are excluded.  This goes for money, but also information.

For instance, contractors (who have little to no loyalty to a company) are given the least instruction, are not required to complete any standard training (especially in terms of keeping company secrets). Also, technical requirements, which Usernames and passwords are required for what sites, as well as what sites are acceptable and which are not. (Youtube? Gmail?)  And mostly, when I asked to join the women's group and got a broken link-I was informed that contractors were not allowed to join.  This is after I expressed such delight in volunteering and feeling like a part of the corporate community.

Some days, fighting for truth is just too tiring.  Especially when you feel like a second class citizen, and know that your thoughts will NOT be taken seriously.

Easy Moments

There are moments in everyday life when you want to tell someone something. I was on a shuttle bus and wanted to apologize to someone sitting in front of me. It would have been easy to tell him when I first got on, but I was distracted finding a seat. It would have been easy to get up at the first traffic light, when the bus was stopped. Or at the second.  Things were quiet enough for conversation too. We were about to head into the countryside, so I knew there were not many more moments. When I approached him, it was not the person I thought it was. I did feel better that I had tried. And that there was one more traffic light than I had expected.

NYC Doesn't Give a Fuck, and that's ok

You can have a life, a DEVOTION around the cult of NYC.  You can be its slave for years, trying to get it to love you back. But it doesn't give a fuck. You can starve, can live in a closet, can work 24/7, can work as a barista, can perform on Broadway.  you can make it there one day and feel like you are starting over the very next. Other cities will welcome you back with open arms.  Embrace you like your Mom.  Alumnae returning to the geographies of their youth.  New York will be like, 'Oh, did you leave the party?" Every neighborhood, every block is a new beginning.  You start from scratch, you reinvent yourself.  Hopefully smarter this time.  You can go for years and never run into any of your previous friends, or selves.  And then you can spend 24 hours playing "This is your life", and seeing mirrors everywhere you go.
